WESTERN CAPE
Cape Boat and Ski-Boat Club

Access is via the M4 through Simon's Town to Boulders. Once off the road turn right towards the clubhouse. The slip is situated in front of the clubhouse.

Cape Hangklip Ski Boat Slip
PRINGLE BAY – PHONE. 028 273 8280
This site is located on the Hermanus side of Cape Hangklip and access is via the R44. Take the Pringle Bay turn-off and drive all the way through the village onto the gravel road. The turn-off to the site is the second public turning after the Bagdad Hotel by the "give-way" sign. There is no signpost. Boats are launched on pebble and sand alongside the broken concrete ramp. The boat exit is through the rocks.

Gordon's Bay Harbour

This popular site is located within the Gordon's Bay Harbour and is controlled by Sea Fisheries. There are slip facilities in the harbour for up to 50 tons and parking for vehicles and trailers.

Harbour Island

The site at Harbour Island, Gordon's Bay is located halfway between Strand and the town of Gordon's Bay along the coast road. Access to it is from the N2 from Cape Town and via the Strand. It is controlled by the Gordon's Bay Municipality.

Harmanus New Harbour

This launch site is located in the New Harbour. Access is via the R43 into Hermanus from where it is signposted. It is controlled by Sea Fisheries. This is primarily a working fishing harbour.

Hout Bay Harbour

This large and well-used launching ramp is situated within the Hout Bay Harbour next to the NSRI Station 8. It is controlled by Sea Fisheries.

Kleinmond Harbour
KLEINMOND – PHONE. 028 271 8219
This slip is controlled by Sea Fisheries. Access is via the R44 through Kleinmond. Take Harbour Road, which leads directly to the site. The harbour is small and positioned in an opening in the rocks, but it has a large well-maintained slipway. There is ample parking for vehicles and trailers.

Kommetjie Beach

This site is reached via the M65 to Kommetjie and the beach in a natural bay. Launching is from the beach and is controlled by the Kommetjie Boat Club.

Laaiplek Harbour

This site is located in Laaiplek Harbour and is controlled by Sea Fisheries. The slip in front of the harbour master's office is concreted and in good condition. There is a parking area for cars and trailers. Near to this site is a large repair yard and commercial slip used by the fishing boats.

Oceana Power Boat Club (Granger Bay)

Access is via Beach Road, Cape Town, at the Green Point entrance to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. The launch site is controlled by the Oceana Power Boat Club.

Saldanha Bay Yacht Club

Access to this site is via the R27 then the R79 into and through the town of Saldanha. The entrance to the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club is at the junction of Main and Saldanha Streets just before the police station. Turn left off the road onto a gravel track, following it down the slope to the clubhouse. The site is controlled by the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club.

Sandy Point Harbour
ST HELENA BAY – PHONE. 083 444 3322
This harbour on the north facing shore of St Helena Bay is the most easterly of the launch sites in this bay. It is accessed from the tarred road linking all the communities along St Helena Bay to the R27 near Velddrif. Controlled by Sea Fisheries, it is a large well maintained harbour that can accommodate up to 150 ski-boats at one time. There is ample parking for vehicles and trailers.

Simon's Town Municipal Slip
SIMON'S TOWN – PHONE. 021 786 1233
The Municipal site is the slip, which is furthest from the False Bay Yacht Club and is used for all powerboat launching. It is located on King George Way, Simon's Town and access is via the Main Road or the southern suburbs railway line.

Velddrif / Port Owen Marina

Access to the Port Owen Marina is via the R27 to Velddrif. Once over the Carinus Bridge, turn left towards Laaiplek. Once through the Port Owen entrance, continue to the office and shop complex. There is a launch site and mobile crane.

WESTERN CAPE
Bulshoek Dam

This site on the Bulshoekdam, north of Clanwilliam, is part of the Olifants River Scheme. Accessed via the N27, this private launching site is controlled by the Bulshoek Dam Home Owners' Association.

Cape Peninsula Aquatic Club (Zeekoevlei)

This site is located on the southern shores of Zeekoevlei and access is via the R310 coastal road from Muizenberg. Turn left at Pelican Park into Strandfontein Road and then into Zeekoevlei Road following the road all the way down to the clubhouse. Zeekoevlei is controlled by the Cape Town City Council (Parks and Forestry). This slip is in the grounds of the Cape Peninsula Aquatic Club.

Clanwilliam Dam
CLANWILLIAM – PHONE.
On the eastern side of the Clanwilliam Dam there are two launching sites and both are within the grounds of the Clanwilliam Dam Resort, which is a Municipal resort. Access to it is from the N7 to Clanwilliam, through the town, following the signs for the campsite on old Cape Road.

Greater Brandvlei Dam

The Greater Brandvlei Dam is situated among the hills on the south bank of the Breede River Valley. The launch site is controlled by the Worcester Yacht Club and is accessed from the Worcester to Rawsonville road. Drive past the Nekkies Holiday Resort to the yacht club security gates.

Kwaggaskloof Dam

The Kwaggaskloof Dam is part of the Greater Brandvlei Dam, which becomes separated from Brandvlei Dam when the water level is low. Access is from the R43 Worcester / Villiersdorp road and the turning is 15,4km out of Worcester to the right and is directly opposite the small white pump house and electricity sub-station under the dam wall. There is approximately 2km of gravel road to the clubhouse and campsite. The site is controlled by the Quaggaskloof Waterski Club and is 32km from Villiersdorp. The dam is very sheltered amongst the hills that protect it from strong and gusty winds and is ideal for the waterski tournaments held there. All craft using the facility is expected to have the basic safety equipment on board.

Milnerton Aquatic Club (Rietvlei)

Rietvlei is located in the Table View / Milnerton area of Cape Town. It is accessed from the West Coast Road (R27), then turn into Blaauwberg Road and then right into Pentz Drive. The site is controlled by the Milnerton Aquatic Club.

Misverstand Dam

This dam is located 12km north of Moorreesburg and is signposted off the N7. It is 10km along a gravel road and is a private resort.

Olifants Dam Motel

This site is located on the western side of the Clanwilliam Dam and access is from the N7 where it runs along the dam and before reaching the town when travelling north. On the site are a 24-hour service station, a shop and a restaurant. Although the site is controlled by the motel, its use is not restricted to guests only.

Silverstrand Holiday Resort (Breede River)

This is a commercial site located just outside Robertson. Access is via the R60 Worcester to Robertson and the turn-off is less than 1km from Robertson. This site is controlled by the Silverstrand Holiday Resort, which has a caravan park and holiday accommodation available.

Theewaterskloof Dam

The Theewaterskloof Dam is located close to Villiersdorp and access to the Theewaterskloof Sports Association / Water Sport Club is from the R43 Villiersdorp / Caledon road, which runs alongside the dam and the three main sites on the Theewaterskloof Dam are accessed from this road. The launching site at the sports club is directly after the turnoff from Villiersdorp. The club has a concrete slipway but boats may also be launched off the bank. There is a camping and caravan site, as well as picnic and braai areas. There is a boat hoist capable of lifting up to 2 tons.

Three Anchor Bay

Access to this slip is from the Cape Town / Sea Point coast road. It is controlled by the Cape Town Metropolitan Council. The water is very shallow at low water. No fishing is allowed and ample parking is available for vehicles and trailers.

WESTERN CAPE
Club Mykonos

Access to this site is via the R27 then the R233 towards Langebaan before turning north for Club Mykonos. The marina is within the complex and controlled by the Home Owners' Association. They have a straddle carrier with lifting capacity of 18 tons.

Fisherhaven Municipal Slip
FISHERHAVEN – PHONE. 028 315 1990
This slip is located on the eastern side of the Bot River Lagoon before reaching the towns of Hawston and Onrus. To get to the site leave the R43 at the Fisherhaven turning. Follow the tarred road until reaching Lagoon Road. Turn right and follow it down to the water and the car park.

Langebaan Yacht Club
LANGEBAAN LAGOON – PHONE. 022 772 2466
Access to this site is via the R27, then the R233 into and through the village of Langebaan. The launch site is controlled by the Langebaan Yacht Club. There is a clubhouse.

Malgas Point (Breede River)
MALGAS – PHONE. 028 542 1049
Launching at Malgas is at the Malgas Point site. There is only parking on the Bredasdorp side of the river. Also, on this side, there is a small general store but no facilities. The river rules on fishing apply throughout the length of the Breede River and water sports are only allowed as far as the Slang River. This site is also used for river rafting safaris and access is from the N2 Swellendam turn-off.
