Course Content

The course is practically orientated and very interesting. Your SAMSA skipper license is recognised internationally and valid for life. Looking forward to meet you at the course!

Day 1 (Saturday) – Lectures
Legal Requirements, Seamanship, Motors, Safety and Emergencies, Rule of the Road and Distress Signals, Weather / Marine Environment, Radio, First Aid, Navigation and Chart work. Emphasis will also be put on the criteria of how to go about buying a good boat!

Day 2 (Saturday)
Theoretical test plus Course evaluation.
Practical component – directly after the test.
Candidate guided until satisfactory level of boat handling achieved.

The above cost include: Course material, Lecture, Meal, Theoretical test, SADSAA fees and Practical component. There are no other costs involved (except: in the event that we need to supply a boat and skipper a fee of R150 is applicable).

In order to register for the course, a deposit of R500.00 is required.
